BOOK YOUR SANTA EARLY THIS YEAR before the good ones get away
These few tips when inviting Santa to your event can make the difference between a smooth running event, and one that can be hectic, and a little chaotic.
Believe or not, some Santas have standing invitations for the following season. If you plan to book a Santa visit start your search, and book early. Bookings usually start in September for that year's Christmas Season. If you wait too late, you may end up with a Santa who has unpleasant odors, or a bad disposition.
The Christmas season can be very hectic for everyone, especially the day of your event. Please try to remember that Santa might have three, or four special events he must attend, sliding in to yours after rushing away from another. Saving Santa a parking space can save a lot of time, and unnecessary stress by keeping a spot that is not too close that he can be seen getting out of his sleigh, but not too far that Santa gets tuckered out making the long walk to, and from.
When considering your photo-ops with Santa, make sure his chair has no arms, and does not set too low to the ground. A sofa chair, or a dining chair with arms are NOT the ideal situation. Using a dining chair without arms will work the best. Also, try not to place the chair in front of windows. the sunlight from that window can cause havoc on automatic camera, not to mention the glass could reflect the light from a camera flash back into the lens causing a large white spot in your magic moments with Santa. A Christmas tree would make a wonderful back ground, just leave room between the two for large families to pose behind the chair.
That quote used to be a battery company slogan many years ago. But it still applies today. Make sure you have fresh batteries, or freshly charged batteries, as well as an empty memory card so all of those special moments can be captured in your mind, heart, and camera.
If you have gifts to pass out be sure they are CLEARLY labeled, and easy to read. Santa's eye sight is not what it once was. A helper that can call out the names on the gifts would be a great idea as well. And please don't overload Santa with too many gifts to carry at once. All of the gifts should be able to fit into a large trash bag and easily carried by Santa. If there are more presents than bag, Santa may be able to provide an additional bag for an "elf" to carry.
If payment is due please place it inside of a Christmas card or a “Letter to Santa” and hand it to Santa at the end of his visit. Cash is king, and allows Santa to feed his reindeer along the way. Besides, the North-pole Bank & Trust does not like out of town checks. If you must send a check, please have it made out prior to Santa's arrival.
